Room1, Room 2 and Room 3 Swimming Sports

Today the children from Room 1, Room 2 and Room 3 took part in their swimming sports event at Gladstone School. It was great to have so many enthusiastic parents and grandparents cheering  the children along. The confidence levels of all these students has really taken off as a result of their swimming programmes provided everyday in our pool by our teachers and also from the great support they receive from their families.

Cooking The Hangi

Once the delicious food had carefully been packed and stacked into the hango baskets, the Y8 boys and Mr Brown carried it out to the hangi pit.The men worked hard in the heat to get the hot embers out of the hangi pit and to cover the food up so that no steam escaped. It was an extremely hot day to be working near the fire pit. A huge thank you to Matua Johni for all his wonderful guidance and expertise throughout the day. It was really appreciated having the wonderful help of our school whanau throughout  the day.

Hangi Preparation

Thank you to all the school whanau who came along to school supporting the students with the hangi preparation. What a great morning we are having, with lots of new learning taking place.

Pine Cone Collecting

The whole school went pine cone collecting in our 'Pine Tree Paddock' on Wednesday morning for half an hour. The children did a fantastic job of filling loads of sacks full of pinecones that will be used to start the classroom fires in the winter months.
