Y8 Leadership Trip

Y8 were inspired by the athletes of the Fifa World Cup Under 20 Quarter Final on Sunday at the 'cake tin' in Wellington.  After staying the night at the Youth Hostel our group attended the National Young Leaders Day and were motivated, inspired and enthused by the fantastic array of speakers and entertainers. One in particular caught the eye of our group, William Pike, a NZ Mountaineer who lost his leg in during the Mount Ruapehu eruption and went on to climb again.  Laura asked Mike to sign our school copy of his book.

School Promotion Meeting Invitation

Dear Parents and Caregivers of Y5 – Y7

Senior School Promotion – Parent Meeting Y5 – Y7

We invite any interested parents of Y5 – Y7 students to our school promotion parent meeting being held on Thursday, the 11th June 2015 at 2pm, in the staffroom (as indicated on the Term 2 school calendar).  This meeting is an opportunity for parents of Y5 – Y7 students, to become informed about what Gladstone School has to offer to our senior students.  As we would like all our students to remain at Gladstone School for their intermediate school years, this meeting will also provide us the opportunity to gather information about the types of learning parents would like their children to be involved in during their time as seniors at Gladstone School.  If you are the parent of younger children and are interested in this topic you are most welcome to join us also.

During part of this meeting Geoff Shepherd, Principal of Kuranui College, will be there to get the views from Gladstone School families to see if they would be interested in having a bus from Gladstone to Kuranui College for secondary students.   If you cannot make the meeting but would like to find out more about either topic please give me a call at school this term.

Please give Graham or me a call should you wish know more about this meeting.

Kind regards
Margaret Hyslop

Principal of Gladstone School

Gladstone Running Smoothly

We enjoyed a fantastic day yesterday at the Wyeth's property, watching our students in action, competing in the annual Carterton Country Schools Cluster Cross Country event.  Gladstone School competed against South End School (including the Montessori School) Saint Mary's School and Dalefield School. Gladstone students gained places in the top 10 running spots in most sections from Y1 through to Y8. It is a brilliant venue for this event as runners can be viewed throughout most of their track We also enjoyed the fantastic support we received from our parents and caregivers to make this event possible.

ICT Learning with Mr Kennard

Students across the junior classes, worked with Mr Kennard today and had fun learning a variety of ICT skills. A group of Room 1 students worked with Mrs Kennard  learning how to do an animated conversation. They are going to teach this to other students in their class.
