Will It Float?

Room 6 spent a fantastic day at the Kahikitea Outdoor Academy on Te Whiti Road, with owner instructor Glenn Beach, learning how to build corricles.  Using willow branches, team work and support from a great bunch of parents, each team created some fantastic vessels. Ask Room 6 students how they got on 'floating their boats'.

Focus On ICT

It was great to see Mr Innes Kennard (ICT advisor) back at Gladstone School today working with our students and with our staff, during and after school.   Room 5 loved learning new things about using the Explain Everything app to share their experiences of making gingerbread men.

Visiting Point England School

The Gladstone School staff and BOT were privileged to visit a number of Auckland schools on Monday, viewing their modern learning environments.  This provided us with an excellent opportunity to see first hand the positive impact technology is having on their learners. We spoke to many staff about their journey to establish such motivating environments and we spoke to students who enthusiastically talked to us about their self directed learning and  how engaged they were in their collaborative programmes.

Hot Air Balloon Visit

We were very excited to have a visit from Scott and Phil yesterday when they arrived with their hot air balloon. When it was pulled out of the cover the balloon was at least half the length of our top field. Room 5 were lucky enough to sit inside the basket as they couldn't see over the top of it.

Class Gardens

Thanks to Mrs Kirsty Rose the compost for our class gardens arrived on Friday. Mr Brown organised the Year 6 students to off load this from the trailer into each class garden area. Watch these garden spaces over the coming term as each class develops their garden in time for the Challenge Shield competition.
