Naming Our Chooks

It was an exciting morning on Friday when the four chooks arrived. Our sincere thanks to Dyana Hanson for donating us these handsome birds. The students are in the process of deciding on the names for the chooks. They have it down to two names for each chook and are now in the process of taking the final vote to decide their chosen names. The decision will finalised on Tuesday.
The suggested names for our chooks are as follows:
For the Sussex chicken (White) = Silky or Molly
For the Arauana chicken (Black) = Black Betty or Sooty
For the Rhode Island Red (Brown) = Rosie or Red
For the Lavender Araucana (Grey) = Lavendar or Violet

Small Stick Hockey Festival

Friday's Small Sticks Hockey Festival provided a great opportunity for our students to share their hockey skills with our school families. The junior students were playing during the first hour of the tournament followed by the senior students. It has been wonderful to have the support of Ms Sharon Gates, who has been working with all our classes over the past four weeks, supporting this learning opportunity.

Y8 Preparing the Chicken Box

This morning the Y8 students sorted out the final touches to the chicken shed, including filling the chicken box with straw and cleaning out their water supply.  Everyone is getting pretty excited at Gladstone School about the impending arrival of the chickens early next week.
