All Y8 students from across the South Wairarapa recently attended the 'Moving On' Conference held at Kuranui College. They experienced a variety of workshops focussed on career opportunities. These included such experiences as auto mechanics, dance, police and fire services, bridge building, robotics, cooking and much more. Gladstone students made the most of their day and each student took part in three different workshops.

Flash Flooding
It was incredible to see what the power of water can do as per yesterday's flash flood. The children were well and truly in awe of the damages around their school, especially to the bridge when they turned up to school today. The school insurers are looking into our repairs and hopefully everything will be returned to normal in the near future. Keep an eye on our school newsletter for details about this.

Y4 Dictionaries presented by Rotary
Each of our Y4 students were very fortunate to receive a pictorial dictionary from Rotary on Friday afternoon. This was an amazing contribution, given that we have 30, Y4 students. The students really appreciated this special gift.
Y1 - Y2 Athletic Sports
The Y1 - Y2 juniors had a great morning displaying their athletic skills, with run, jump throw activities at South End School in Carterton on Thursday as part of the Carterton Central Cluster sports. The wet weather meant that the event had to finish earlier than expected but our students showed how Gladstone School can shine by their fantastic effort and positive attitude.

Term 4 Underway with Pet Day & Athletics
The sun was shining and the children were very happy when the Pets came to school on Friday. It was a wonderful afternoon with everyone enjoying some fantastic displays of pet ring craft and care and rearing. Well done to all students who took part.
During the week we were fortunate to have Mark Harris coach the students as part of our PE & Health programme in preparation for the upcoming Athletic Sports. All these exciting events have given us a great start to Term 4.

Matariki Clebrations
What an amazing evening everyone shared on the last Thursday night of Term 2 to celebrate Matariki. The highlight for our students was the lantern parade. The students walked around the top field, with their whānau, under the stars, holding onto the lanterns they had made, sang songs and released three huge lanterns into the sky.

Principals Morning Tea Outing - Term 2
It was fantastic to be able to share the morning with the thirteen students on the last day of term for the Principals Morning Tea Outing. These students were nominated by their teachers for putting in a consistent effort across the term following our school rules and values. Gladstone - "We Shine".
